FotoFacial RF Questions
Q - Am I a good candidate for FotoFacial RF?
A - Anyone who wants to reduce the “reds” or “browns” on their skin, reduce pore size and improve skin laxity are good candidates. Your skin cannot be tanned at the time of treatment.
Q - How do FotoFacial RF treatments work?
A - Each pulse sends two types of energy into your skin, intense pulsed light and radio frequency energy. The energy is directed towards brown spots, blood vessels and redness. The radio frequency energy also produces significant amounts of collagen and elastin, thereby reducing fine lines and improving the skin’s tightness. The treatments are done as a series of 5-done three weeks apart.
Q - Does FotoFacial RF hurt?
A - There may be mild discomfort but a topical anesthetic can be applied prior to treatment to reduce or even eliminate this sensation. A cooling system is also used to provide comfort.
Q - How will I look afterwards?
A - You may notice some redness and perhaps swelling immediately after treatment. This will diminish over the next 24 hours. Browns will darken and may become crusty and slough off. You can apply makeup after treatment and do not have to refrain from daily activities.
Q - How long do the results of FotoFacial RF last?
A - You can expect a 50-75% improvement in all areas of concern. Over 90% of clients are pleased with the degree of improvement. It is important to follow the recommended skin care regime to help maintain your refreshed appearance. Also some clients choose to book maintenance treatments at regular intervals to ensure their skin remains smooth and youthful.
Permanent Hair Removal Questions
Q - How do the treatments work?
A - Each pulse sends two types of energy into the target area, intense pulsed light and radio frequency energy. The radio frequency current heats the hair follicle causing damage. The intense pulsed light energy selectively heats the hair shaft and the hair root. These two types of energy are heating the targeted hair simultaneously, therefore creating a uniform heat that damages both the hair shaft and follicle.
Q - Who is a good candidate for hair removal?
A - We can treat those with dark hair or light hair including grey and blond. We also can treat a variety of skin types using the ELOS technology, a combination of intense pulsed light energy with radio frequency energy.
Q - How many treatments can I expect?
A - Depending on the hair colour and type it could take as few as four to as many as eight, possibly more with very stubborn grey hair. As with all laser/light source hair removal methods you can expect about 20-25% reduction with each treatment. There is 3-5% of the population that will not respond to any type of permanent hair reduction.
Q - Are there any side effects to hair removal?
A - You can expect some redness of the area treated which will quickly subside over the next 24 hours.
Q - Does this procedure hurt as much as electrolysis or waxing?
A - There can be some mild discomfort but a cooling system is used to reduce this sensation. For areas that are particularly sensitive a topical anesthetic can be applied 30 minutes before treatment.
Botox Cosmetic Questions
Q - How does Botox Cosmetic work?
A - Botox Cosmetic is an injectable purified protein produced by the Clostridium botulinum organism, which reduces the activity of the muscles that cause lines to form over time. It is administered in extremely dilute dosages. Botox Cosmetic is injected into the muscle that is creating the wrinkle. When it is injected into the muscle it blocks the nerve impulse from reaching the area and the muscle relaxes.
Q - Is Botox Cosmetic safe?
A - Botox has been safely used for ophthalmic disorders for over 10 years. When Botox was used to treat ophthalmic patients one physician noticed that the lines around her patients eyes improved. In April 2001, Botox Cosmetic was cleared for use in Canada for patients with facial wrinkles. Since then many satisfied people have been safely treated.
Q - What can I expect from Botox Cosmetic?
A - A very small needle is used to inject the Botox into the muscle. There is minimal discomfort but some clients prefer to use a topical anesthetic to numb the area. Following the procedure you may experience a very small bruise at the injection site.
Q - What do I do afterward Botox Cosmetic treatment?
A - There are a few rules to follow after treatment…do not touch the treated area, do not lay flat for four hours afterwards, and do make faces! All of these recommendations are important to follow as we do not want the Botox Cosmetic solution to disperse to any surrounding tissue.
Q - How long will Botox Cosmetic last?
A - The result will be noticed within 7 days, reach its maximum effect by 14 days, and will last approximately 3-4 months.
